I've been up all night playing FF9. I'm at the black mage village. I really like the way you acuire skills in this game. It's not stupid like 8, and I think it's better than 7.

I'm rather fond of FF8. I thought it was a really fun game and I liked the story and characters. But I'm weird and there's no accounting for taste. On the same note, I really didn't like FF9. I thought it was a rehash of the last 4 Final Fantasy games and got bored of it pretty quick. I got farther than you are right now, got bored and stopped playing it and then I watched my brother beat it. That was good enough for me. (No, I won't give it away.) So... yeah. That's what I think.

I should also mention that I'm still on the 2nd cd of ff8, cause I just got too busy to keep playing it. plus I got really tired of doing nothing but summoning guardian forces, and then holding down athe select button and tapping r2 really fast. it was stupid. Plus I couldn't find the stuff to make my weapons better, so I still have the original weapons, which means I do like less than 100 damage still, and have to rely on guardian forces and magic (which was also handled in a really dumb way.)

When I played FF8 I forced my characters not to rely on GFs and got their weapons up. Only junctioned and only used GFs when I had too. My characters in that game are nigh invincible now with just their weapons. Was able to get each character's ultimate weapon. Oh well, I liked it. Don't really matter.

The black mage golems are cool. Lately, I've been seeing a lot of stuff on a similar theme - the sort of anti-methusalah effect. Like, people who are born with greater capabilities than ordinary, but at the cost of longevity. Like Ender's Shadow; Bean is incredibly smart, but he's doomed to die around age 25 because his body will never stop growing (= massive heart failure). Actually, a while back, I was tempted to write a story on such themes. Maybe I'll get back it it.
