the state of the union address is painful to read.
Especially the education part, as well as his assumption that we want to pay lots of taxes to fix whatever problems this excessive deficit spending will cause.
and i don't understand why bush wants us to use America's oil now. we should conserve it until the rest of the world has no oil, and then we can export it and rape the rest of the world. is he just worried that it will become an obsolete technology before we can burn it all? what a retard.
also, he uses the word "minorities" when what he means is to use the word "poor people" Minorities do not by definition live in squalid shanty ghettos. Poor people do. If you're going to talk about people who have a low income, and small, run down houses, you should describe them as poor people or a synonym.

Minority /= poor!!! Poor = Poor!!!!

What the hell does "let's Roll" mean? does he want everyone to have a giant E enduced orgy? or is this like the "autobots, transform and roll out" kind of roll, where giant mechanized things are moving? Maybe it's the roll from "stop drop and roll" indicating that there will be some sort of conflaguration, either real or metaphorical.
I wished he had talked about more than just "september 11th" (I really thing that's a rediculous name for that. I wish there was a better one. I wonder if they're gonna make it a holiday.) I kinda hoped there would be more than one paragraph loosely adressing ENRON, but I guess his mission was to spread pro-war propaganda, and that's what he did. I dont understand why he had to start his time in office with a negative view of russia. Was taht just so that he could later make friends with them, and act like he acomplished soemthing? Did he just want to re-live the presidency of Regan. BUh.
More fun than anthing!

what it means . . .
I personally refused to watch or read the State of the Union Address . . . partly because I think Dubya has the IQ of a rock . . . so just watching or listening to him makes me twitch . . . however I have heard things about his address . . . apparently "let's roll" was used by the passengers on Sept. 11 aboard the flight that went down in Pennsylvania . . . "let's roll" was used just before they stormed the cockpit causing the flight to crash . . . I guess Dubya thought he was so clever to re-use the phrase . . . someone help us all . . .

Lets roll!
Yeah, his state of the union wasn't too great, but I like the way he pointed out the Axis of Evil... cause everything is black-and-white, good-and-evil, us-vs-them. I'm glad he kept it simple, so an ignorant, xenophobic American like me could understand. We need to go out there and bomb those godless savages into rubble!
I think that we're just going to cause more trouble like this (unless, of course we have some secret Autobots helping us, in which case we'd 0wn terrorism)... it's already making diplomatic problems with those nations even worse and just seems to polarize the issue. If you're not supporting the US, you're aiding the evil terrorists. Yeah, and doing drugs = blowing up the WTC, I know, I saw the commercial.
Oh well. I can't help but think that we're entering a second age of imperialism under the guise of fighting terrorism.
Sometimes, it's almost enough to make me wish I had voted for Gore. ;)

Re: Lets roll!
His "Axis of Evil" is a pathetic attempt to copy his father's characterization of Saddam Hussien being "like Hitler." Besides the obvious power difference, lumping Iraq, Iran and North Korea into some kind of dark alliance is ridiculous, not only because North Korea has absolutely nothing to do with the Middle East, but also because Iran and Iraq HATE each other; they fought a long, hideously vicious war that decimated a whole generation. This is yet another simplistic, bozo-profound statement from a president who had little-to-no foriegn policy background before entering office and whose difficult time catching up is not suprising in light of his proud history as a C student.
The public service ads that claim that drugs are supporting terrorism......well a lot of things might end up going to support terrorism. Taxes people paid during the period where Bush Sr. was the CIA chief and then Vice-president paid for weapons, training and logisitical support for the Mujaheddin, who were fighting a Soviet invasion force who considered them terrorists. Lots of these weapons ended up in Taliban arms caches. They also helped pay (along with the money from arms sales to Iran) to support the Contra 'freedom fighters' against the elected communist government in Nicaragua. The imperialism has never really stopped.

Re: Lets roll!
well... socialist countries do historically have ties with the middle east through arms sales (via USSR and the PRC), but that was three decades ago. i suppose this an extreme example of the republican party slogan "an elephant never forgets." they go dragging up old cold-war history and paranoia to justify the assumption that N. Korea and the Middle East are conspiring against all good western nations. the Iran/Iraq alliance is a real beauty as well. at least the its the republicans who are taking advantage of the general populace's ignorance for once.
i swear, both parties are ridiculously predictable, yet they never cease to amaze me with the depths of their idiocy.

Oh, yeah. Forgot!
I heard that some WTC group is trying to trademark the phrase "Lets roll." I should trademark the phrases "Hey, what's up?" and "Good morning" "Good afternoon" and such... then anytime one person greated someone, they'd have to pay me!

oh my god.
Sometimes I feel bad that I'm missing out on the rest of the world here in my UCSC bubble, and then I hear about stuff like that and never want to leave it.

Re: Oh, yeah. Forgot!
me and erin saw the mbs boards at the skater shop where i got my skater shoes. it's the same mbs from your icon. it was neat. erin wanted to steal something that had the mbs logo on it, but there wasn't anything you could pull off of the display except for the boards.
