so, i got 4 people to use itunes, and so now we can all listen to each other's music!
I want to put Nick's old 1st generation imac downstairs so that people can use it as the DJ machine, and play music from anywhere in the house on it, on to the nice downstairs speakers. isn't that neat? yeah baby!
does anyone know if the latest version of itunes will work on an older computer like that?

I can't believe I said "yeah baby!" in a post.

My friends have a giant Austin Powers/Virgin Atlantic poster, advertising Virgin's high number of flights to England. It has a picture of Austin and the text reads,
"Five times a day? Yeah, baby!"

I don't see any reason why the latest version of iTunes shouldn't work on Nick's iMac...once you've installed OS X version 10.2.4 or later on it!

The issue is more "can it run Mac OCX" as well as "can it run itunes well enough to function in the intended manner." I mean, this computer is at least 6 years old.

Apple's compatibility page seems to indicate that even the original iMac can run OS X.

According to the people I've talked to, Jaguar will run on a first-generation iMac but will be somewhat sluggish. Probably shouldn't try it with anything earlier. As for Panther, of course, it's too early to know.

well, I bought Panther today for $60 so we'll see.
