ok, so...
I'm doing a pro/con thing about bush and I have a lot of cons, but I couldn't think of a single pro other than increased voter turn out.
Can someone please tell me what he did right?

He wore a wire during the debate. Which is a pro thing because it made having to watch him talk for more than 5 seconds at a time almost bearable.

also completely out of context, and hardly alone, but
the removal of the Taliban
and um, well actually that's probably about it, and those were things 9/11 kinda forced him to do.

He did have a couple of great campaign ideas, like doubling the size of the Peace Corps and controlling CO2 emissions, but those, well sorta turned out to be, well um, sorta... lies.

He has done lots of good things...
(1) He is a poster child for 'no matter how dumb you are you can still be president.' I think that is why so many people from the mid-west voted for him. Most people dont want some elite class or mentaly superiour people ruling them. Kind of like in Gatica. Bush represents the everyman to a lot of people.

(2) He also projects a feeling of hope. By implying that the war on terror can be one and that global warming is just a myth he promotes a feel good everything will be ok aura. As opposed to the demicrats who say look at how many problems there are! soo many problems the world is going to end if we dont start working on them right now!! People dont want to be troubled by this stuff.

(3) He is giving the US better leverage over oil, and sorry to say that oil is power and the fule of our ecconomy. And now that he has been re-elected it shows the world that we can smash countries over oil and the voters wont turn on him. He now has an upper hand because of his re-election.

(4) if you look on a map of the US Red vs Blue you will notice that most of the blue is located along the coast... by refusing to do anything about global warming he might unite the country. Think about that.

(5) His christianity based government and campain has brought about a new wave of christianity across the country. So now we will be a more moral people and less inclined to allow the devils magic of 'science' and that evil homosexuality. If we accept every group who will the poor whites spit on? BUT, this could also bring about a backlash agenst religion, because the failings of government are now linked to god, and when one fails it is concevable that some with loose faith in both... not well said but perhaps you get the point.

(6) The democrats are in a better position for the next election. Insead of having a hack like John Kerry this time we will have much better leverage next election. Just think if the economy goes bad now people will be much more likely to vote for a democrat next time. Some times loosing a stratigic battle can win you the war!

So in conclusion, I would like to say that I am hungry and should go cook dinner. And yes, I did just pull that all out of my ass. I honestly think that all politics is just the blind leading the blind and any action is a 'bad' one but inaction could be worse... or better. whatever, I'm not loosing any sleep over this election.

Re: He has done lots of good things...
I'll have to assume that 6 was meant to be darkly comical. Since it didn't seem to do us a bit of good this time that the same thing happened last time.

No no I was dead serious about all of those.

I cant wait for time travelers from the future to start showing up and saying "We just wanted to see what you were all like before you did that really stupid thing. Bahaha!"

good times, good times.
