why ? why would anyone need games on their ipod ? just in case they're not at home and can't play their playstation, gamecube, or nintendo 64 ? just in case they forgot their cell phone at the magic the gathering tournament the night before ? just in case they are so jammed in the subway they can't pull their ibook out ? i love video games just as much as the next guy, but i'm sorry, they dont need to be everywhere. it's unhealthy to play them too much and we all know this. putting them on a portable device will just make people more addicted...

ya but..
you act like thats something new. Remember gameboy thats on its 4th generation of gameboy, and theres a slew of other portable consoles old and new. Anyways, i dont see the point to put it on the iPod cause its not like the clickwheel is a very good controler.

Re: ya but..
yeah, i thought about gameboys but didnt bother mentioning it because they really arent that popular anymore. when the first came out they were the rage but as video game systems became more advance people lost interest in gameboys because the graphics couldnt compare.

and your absolutely right about the clickwheel being a shitty controller. i didnt even think about that.

but maybe the point of the article wasnt to say putting games on ipods should be done, more that it could be done. better yet, maybe the article is more like a geeky version of those human interest stories that get e mailed around the office...like that bear who got drunk off some campers beer. except this is for people who work at computer related offices, like apple, and they're probably getting a HUGE kick out of this. like chris.

Re: ya but..
I personally thought the way they figured out how to hack into the iPod was interesting. I'm a computer science student though. So that makes putting Linux on anything is interesting and super cool to me. I saw the article more as a linux can be installed on your iPod which opens up a lot of doors to doing random nerdy things to your iPod rather than an Oh Boy, i can put puzzle bobble on my iPod! Although puzzle bobble on the ipod would be a game you could easily play with the click wheel. Arkanoid would also be a great game to have on the iPod. It's exciting in the way that modifying your Xbox is exciting. Most people don't care that you can do all sorts of cool things with your Xbox, but a lot of nerdy people are like omg time to nerd it up!

The xbox mod is usefull though, cause you can use it as a media computer. It'll play all the cool pirate movie formats, and you can also install a bunch of games on the hard drive.

badasssss
Putting linux on things is nice and all, but far beyond the actual utility of Penguinizing your iPod is the sheer cool value of turning the piezoelectric clicker thing into a analog modem; Brilliant hardware hack that is. Oh and gameboys are still really popular (though the demographic has certainly expanded downwards younger).
